To boost enrolment in government schools and raise awareness about government-sponsored welfare schemes, the School Education Department in Ramban organised a drive and community mobilisation awareness programme under Samagra Shiksha at Maitra, Ramban.

The programme was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma, President Municipal Council, Sunita Sumberia and DDC Councillor, Renuka Katoch.

The event was attended by Zonal Education Officer, Firdous Ahmed; Sarpanch of Panchayat Maitra, Mohinder Singh and Zulekha Begum, as well as other PRI members, parents, teachers and students.

During the event, Sharma said that the community mobilisation and enrolment drive programme is being carried out in the district on a mission mode. He added that active participation from the community ensures transparency and accountability and helps to leverage their collective knowledge for better functioning of schools.

Sharma also informed attendees about government schemes such as the MDM programme, free textbooks and uniforms, and scholarship schemes for SC/ST/OBC/specially abled students.

He encouraged community members to promote enrolment by urging the public to send their children to government schools for quality education. Zonal Education Officer Firdous Ahmed said that providing quality education to students is their top priority.

He urged teachers and others to work hard to ensure meaningful enrolment in their respective schools. President Sunita Sumberia and DDC Councillor Renuka Katoch also gave valuable suggestions for achieving enrolment targets and improving the education system.

They also highlighted all government schemes and facilities available in government schools and urged community members to participate in an effective enrolment drive to increase enrolment in government schools.
