Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Kupwara Irfan Sultan Panditpori and Deputy Commissioner(DC), Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray today kick-started plantation drive under MGNREGA convergence at Monabal in Handwara subdivision of Kupwara district.
The DDC Member Langate, Khursheed Ahmed; BDC Chairperson, Showkat Pandit, ACD Kupwara Hilal Ahmad Mir, DFO Langate and other concerned officers were present at the occasion.
On the occasion it was informed that during the drive as many as 1500 saplings of different varieties including Deodar, plum, hybrid walnuts, male poplar, chinar trees were planted in the area.
It was further informed that RDD department and Divisional Forest Office (DFO) Langate are jointly planting these saplings on community lands, and other available places.
Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers to gear up their manpower and ensure that all target of plantations for whole district is achieved within current plantation season.
