Director Anubhav Sinha, who has given many hit films to the film industry including Thappad, Article 15 and many more and now he is coming up with another intriguing story ‘Bheed’ based on the darkest times faced by India during Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier the teaser of the film was released which created hype among the audiences. Now finally the wait is over and the trailer of the most awaited film ‘Bheed’ helmed by Anubhav Sinha starring Rajkumar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar and Dia Mirza is out now.
Speaking about the trailer, it opens up with the voice of PM Narender Modi announcing complete lockdown in the nation in just a few hours. Rajkumar Rao portraying the role of a cop says, “Justice is always in the hands of the powerful. If the powerless served justice, justice would be different.” The lockdown left millions of daily wage workers, migrant workers and low middle class families becoming homeless, running to their hometowns making treks to their home states on the highways but are stopped at the borders and are punished by the police.

It shows the visuals of migrants facing challenges in the lockdown while making their way to home, police beating them and spraying disinfectants on them. The actual things happened with them (people belonging to a certain caste) and the way they were treated at a time when they needed support from the government. Rajkumar Rao stands up for humanity and tries to change things happening due to caste bias during the lockdown. On the other hand, it shows Dia Mirza who belongs to an upper caste and gets struck in between due to lockdown. It then shows Pankaj Kapur is shown as a racist who refuses help from Muslim characters.

The trailer of the film is quite eye-catching and has put a great impact on the viewers. The film is set in black and white format to put more impact. A comparison has been shown in the dark times of India-Pakistan partition and the Covid-19 pandemic times.
The teaser of the film created controversy due to Pankaj Kapur who refuses for help from Muslim characters. Due to this it was speculated that the producer of the film Bhushan Kumar has maintained distance from the project and it now appears to be true because the trailer launch does not mention the name of Bhushan or the studio in the trailer or in the credits.
Presented by Benaras Mediawork Productions, the film ‘Bheed’ is slated to release on 24 March 2023. ‘Bheed’ is directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Anubhav Sinha and stars Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Kapur, Bhumi Pednekar, Virendra Saxena, Ashutosh Rana, and Dia Mirza in lead roles.
