Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar was very excited for his film ‘Selfiee’ which was speculated to be a superhit and do great at Box-office. Selfiee released on 24 February 2023 did not go as expected, it has flopped at box-office. It is Akshay’s fifth flop film in a row which is not at all good news for a superstar like Akshy who has once given unbeatable films to the industry.
Selfiee marks Akshay’s worst opening over a decade. Talking about Selfiee’s performance at box office on day 1, Selfiee managed to earn only Rs. 2.55 crore on its opening day. Thisfigure is even lower than what was speculated by the trade experts ahead of the film release. It was predicted that the opening day collection would be somewhere between Rs. 4 and 5 crores.

Trade expert and analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle and shared the collection and talked about the failure of the movie of such prominent personalities. His tweet read as, “#Selfiee has a disastrous Day 1… Sends shock waves throughout the industry… One of the lowest starts for a film that has several prominent names attached to it… Fri ₹ 2.55 cr+. #India biz.”
As it marks Akshay’s worst opener over a decade, the last time Akshay had the worst opening day collection was in 2010 for his film ‘Oh My God! That earned only Rs. 4.25 on its opening day. This akshay’s 5th flop in row, previous were Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Bachchhan Pandey, they all were a big flop at Box-office. These films did not do well at Box-office but at least they had good openings. Selfiee didn't even have a good opening.
Selfiee also stars Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Nushratt Bharuccha along with Akshay in lead roles. It is the remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama film, ‘Driving License’. Selfiee is directed by Raj Mehta and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
