The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was fully committed to provide world class health facilities free to the residents of the state and appropriate steps were being taken in this direction on a priority basis. 

This was expressed today by the Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh while reviewing the efforts being made to ensure availability of quality health facilities at Sub Divisional Hospital Dhuri. Health Minister along with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and other senior officials visited the hospital and interacted with the staff and patients undergoing treatment here.

The health minister said that in the next six months, the cleanliness of the government hospitals of the state will be streamlined, as well as the safety of the staff and the availability of medicines will also be ensured. He said that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has set a target that within a year or two, all the tests and medicines should be made available free of cost inside the hospitals. 

The Health Minister said that government hospitals will be made better than corporate hospitals and there will be no shortage of specialist doctors and the needy will not face any problem there. He said that recently 271 specialist doctors have been recruited by the Chief Minister Mann and remaining vacancies will be filled soon.

The health minister said that the people had to bear the brunt of the negligence of the public health sector by the previous governments, but it has happened for the first time that a Chief Minister has done many things including giving jobs to the unemployed, recruiting specialist doctors, etc. in the very first year. 

He said that people were getting benefit from the facilities available in the Aam Aadmi Clinics established in the state.On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Jitindra Jorwal, OSD to CM Professor Onkar Singh, SDM Amit Gupta, SP Palwinder Singh Cheema, Chairman Gau Sewa Commission Ashok Kumar Singla, Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kaur, Rajwant Singh Ghulli and other personalities were also present.
