Government Degree College Ramgarh celebrated Lohiri and Makar Sankranti with exuberance and fanfare today. Organised by the Department of Punjabi and Statistics in collaboration with the college's cultural committee, the event was led by Principal Dr Satinder Kaur.

The campus was filled with an upbeat atmosphere as students participated in the festive spirit of Lohri. A bonfire was lit, and traditional offerings of sesame seeds, jaggery, and ‘reories’ were tossed into the flames.

The celebration concluded with a prayer to the gods for abundance and prosperity. Dr Satinder Kaur emphasised the importance of Lohri and the joy and zeal with which it is traditionally celebrated. She also prayed for prosperity for the people and society.

Professor Risha Kumari educated the students about the traditional values behind the celebrations of Lohri. Other faculty members in attendance included Dr Aditi Khajuria, Professor Seema Sharma, Dr Sandeep Kumar, Dr Shamsher Lal, Dr Ekta Rani, Dr Rahul Kundal, Dr Varinder Kour and Arpana Devi.
