In a prompt and effective action by Phagwara Police, a gang of armed robbers were caught within an hour of the perpetrators snatching a Hyundai Creta car at gun point from a resident of Urban estate Phagwara .
Talking to the media IG Jalandhar Range Mr G S Sandhu , SSP Navneet singh Bains said that Police Control Room Phagwara received a call that some armed persons have snatched a car from a resident of Urban Estate colony.
The City Phagwara Police immediately dispatched its teams to look for the car. After effort, the car was located going towards Goraya. SHO Amandeep Nahar and his two personnel chased the car to halt.
When SHO ordered the perpetrators to come out of the car, they immediately fired on the Police party. In the ensuing response, shots were fired from the Police party. Despite of dense fog , the Police were able to nab 3 accused.
One of them,however, managed to flee.It was discovered that the accused also sustained bullet injuries in the gunfire. They were later admitted to Civil Hospital Phagwara. They were referred to Jalandhar where their condition is stated to be stable.Outnumbered and outgunned, the Police party retaliated without regard to their personal safety.
Making supreme sacrifice, CT Kuldeep Singh 886/KPT sustained bullet injury and succumbed on the way to hospital. The hunt for the fourth accused is on. An FIR in the case has been lodged at Phillaur Police station.
Further investigation is on.He also said that the car used in crime has a fake number PB32 AA 1212 whereas the original Number was DL 10 CD 9711.
