As part of Good Governance week, a workshop was today conducted here to discuss the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. During the workshop, Secretary, DLSA, Mir Wajahat shared various provisions of the act with the attendees.
He said that the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is a powerful legislation, initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and provides effective provision for maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens.
The attendees deliberated on the implementation of the act and its relevance in the present times. Issues like modalities, mechanism, grievance redressal, sensitization among others were discussed. The workshop was attended by ADC Anantnag, SDMs and ACR Anantnag.
