A meeting of District Level Committee (DLC) was held here today under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Yar Ali Khan to select the beneficiaries for availing financial assistance in establishing Trout Units in Private Sector under the centrally sponsored scheme of Pradhan Mantri Marshal Sampad Yojana (PMMSY).
Assistant Director Fisheries Shopian informed the chair about the developmental activities of the department in the district. It was informed that District Shopian has great scope for Trout Culture and till date 40 Trout units have been established in Private Sector in the district and the Trout production of the district has reached 60 tons.
During the current financial year, 07 more Trout units are to be established in Private Sector under PMMSY scheme and equal numbers of beneficiaries were selected through draw of lots in presence of the applicants who shall avail financial assistance to establish their Trout Units in Private Sector. The meeting was attended by all the members of the committee along with beneficiaries.
