On December 10, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai recorded a record-high number of travellers in a single day. On this day, the airport served more than 1.5 lakh passengers. This is the third-highest passenger count in CSMIA history and the greatest passenger volume since Mumbai Airport restarted operations following the pandemic. The busiest single crossover runway airport in the world, CSMIA, saw 1,11,441 domestic passengers, 39,547 foreign passengers, and 892 ATM transactions on December 10. Additionally, this explains roughly 97 percent of the total migration seen prior to the epidemic.

The most recent triumph ranks Mumbai Airport's single-day passenger movement as the third highest overall. On December 21, 2018, CISMA recorded 1,56,329 single-day travellers. The airport has now earned 97% of this traffic level for the year. Approximately 98 percent of the 15 2562 passenger volume recorded on December 22, 2017, was likewise obtained by CSMIA this year.
The most passengers ever recorded during the COVID epoch were 73509 on February 13, 2021. As many as 150276 passengers were counted on December 20, 2019. When compared to the number on the same day last year, the airport authorities claim that CSMIA has seen a 140% increase in international passenger movements and a 26% increase in domestic passenger movements. The overall growth rate for this year is 44%.
According to airport management, the development is due to more destinations, more flights, and more airline capacity at the airport. According to a Mumbai airport spokeswoman, CSMIA provides travellers with a smooth and hassle-free experience thanks to passenger-centric amenities, diligent staff, cutting-edge infrastructure, and the introduction of the most recent technologies. The Mumbai airport has been implementing a number of strategies to draw in more travellers. As part of its strategy to become carbon neutral, CSMA installed six fast electric vehicles (EV) charging stations at the location last week. According to a statement from Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the public charging stations set up at Terminals 1 and 2 would serve both travellers and visitors to the CSMIA.
