The second day of ambitious programme ‘My Town My Pride’ today witnessed multifarious activities in all four Urban Local Bodies (Municipal Council and Municipal Committees) in Kulgam district with enthusiastic public participation.

During the programme, the Visiting Officers listened to issues and concerns of the people besides taking stock of development scenario in these areas. Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, who is the Visiting Officer for Municipal Council Kulgam, today chaired a meeting with councilors and officers here to review functioning of Municipal Council, Kulgam.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi Ud Din- Bhat, ADDC, ADC, ACR and other officers besides President, Municipal Council Kulgam, Muneeb Ahmad and Councilors. EO Kulgam M. Irfan, briefed the meeting about various online services, revenue generation and expenditure besides status of development works.

Commissioner Secretary instructed the EO and other concerned officers to identify vending zones for vendors. He asked for making the building permission process smooth and easy for public. He also interacted with ULB members and listened to their issues besides discussing strategies towards making the town more beautiful.

Later, Commissioner Secretary inspected stalls installed by different departments to educate the people about their schemes and programmes. Registration counters were also setup to provide on spot registration facilities to the beneficiaries here at Rest house Chawalgam, Kulgam which were also inspected by the Commissioner Secretary.

On the occasion, colorful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were also presented by professional groups. Commissioner Secretary along with the Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated sports events here at sports stadium and participated in a cricket match to encourage the players and youth.

He visited Drug de-addiction centre and reviewed availability of facilities in the centre besides visiting solid waste management site at Liroo. Meanwhile, in Municipal areas of Devsar, Frisal and Yaripora the Visiting Officer Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, Commissioner Secretary, Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, visiting officer to Yaripora, Mufti M Farid Ud Din, Secretary Royal Spring Golf Course, Visiting Officer to Frisal, Mohammad Ahsan Mir, Director Command Area Development Kashmir, Visiting Officer to Devsar listened to issues of people of these areas. 

They also took stock of developmental scenario in these areas. In these Municipal Committees, awareness sessions regarding government schemes, sanitation drives and other activities were carried out.

Meanwhile, registration counters were set up by the departments at the designated venues where people were apprised of government schemes and beneficiaries were also registered on spot. The visiting officers also took rounds of these stalls and counters. The visiting officers also inaugurated several developmental projects in these areas.
