Government Degree College Ramgarh has started a series of activities in the month of December under the aegis of ‘My College My Pride’. Beginning with the series of activities, the NSS unit ‘Prabha’, today conducted a cleanliness drive on the campus including maintenance of the College lawns.

The activities are being conducted under the guidance and leadership of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur. Speaking on the occasion, she laid emphasis on the importance of cleanliness and clean surroundings.

She said that an institution of higher education must impart the knowledge regarding cleanliness, safe environment, hygiene, extension work, open classroom, shramdaan, beautification, awareness campaigns, sports, plantation drives, and health of stakeholders, to the students in particular and the society in general through these activities and extension works.

Dr. Shamsher Lal, Programme Officer of the NSS unit ‘Prabha’ briefed the volunteers regarding the activity. The NSS volunteers were divided into five groups, each group led by the NSS committee members- Dr. Ekta Rani, Dr. Varinder Kour, Dr. Anjali Bala, and Dr. Rahul Kundal.

These groups carried out the drive and collected waste. At the end, the waste was disposed off at the designated site. The volunteers also carried out the maintenance work of the College lawn, in which they rooted out the weeds, cleaned the flower bed, and watered the plants.
