Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag in collaboration with Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir today organised a training programme for the senior extension functionaries of production departments (Agriculture & Horticulture) on “Soil Health Management” vis-à-vis Soil Health Card Implementation” at KVK campus, here. 

Head, KVK Anantnag, Dr. I. A. Khan, presented the overview of the programme and underlined the importance of soil health cards for the sustainability of soil health. On the occasion, the guest speaker Dr. Aashiq Hussain, Professor, SKUAST-Kashmir gave a detailed presentation on soil health management.

During the presentation he emphasized on the need to make use of available resources for improving the soil health. He also spoke on different facets of sustainable farming vis-a-vis soil health management. A practical demonstration on collection of Soil sampling techniques in the field were also demonstrated to the trainees. 

The programme was attended by 30 officers/officials of the line departments besides RHWE students. The hard copies of soil health cards developed by the Directorate of Extension were also distributed among the trainees.
