Department of Tribal Affairs, in collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar, today hosted a series of activities across the District, including Government Model Hr. Sec. School Boys Kishtwar, Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo and Government Degree College Paddar to mark "JanJati Gaurav Diwas" being celebrated across the country to pay tributes to Iconic Tribal Freedom Fighter Leader Birsa Munda.
During the programme at GHSS Boys Kishtwar and G&B Hostel Chatroo students participated in different activities including Debate competition, Symposium, Cultural program and awareness activities.
The cultural program featured the unique traditions, cultural heritage and legacy of tribal communities ably presented by the students.During the awareness programme, the speakers urged people especially ST community to avail the benefits of dedicated schemes.
Later, all the participants were felicitated with citation certificates.At GDC Paddar, a special lecture was delivered by Assistant Prof Dr Jeevan Dhar to the staff and students, highlighting the contribution of Iconic Tribal Leader Birsa Munda as a social reformer and freedom fighter.
A Volleyball tournament was also organised to commemorate the legacy of great revolutionary leader Birsa Munda.
