Baba Gajidas Club on Sunday organized annual mass marriage ceremony for couples from needy families with the support of Gram Panchayat and local residents at Stadium of Village Road Majra.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Maan's wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur congratulated the newly wedded couple and honoured them by giving siropao. Talking to media at sidelines of event, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that the social work conducted by Baba Gaji Das Club, especially group marriages, is commendable.
She said that we all should always come forward to contribute for social services. There is no greater Karma than service to humanity. She also asked the Baba Gaji Das Club members to contribute for such social welfare works in the future too.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Shri Chamkaur Sahib Dr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that a great effort is being made by Baba Ghazi Das Club by organising mass wedding ceremony. He also thanked Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Maan's wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur to attend this event. Club President, Davinder Singh Bajwa said that this year the club gave Rs. 31 thousand each to couples while next year couples will be given Rs. 51-51 thousand each.
