Mission Director, J&K Dairy Development Mission, Narinder Singh Bali today reviewed the scenario of Lumpy Skin disease and implementation of centrally sponsored Animal Husbandry sector schemes in District Kishtwar, here at a meeting of functionaries of concerned department.

The meeting was attended by CAHO, Dr. Sanjay Sen; Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Dr. Sumit Kumar; Technical Officer, Dr. Indu Bhushan; Mobile Veterinary Officer, Dr Arif Shah; Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (Nodal Officer NAIP-IV) Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Usman and Dr. Owais Bashir, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon.

At the outset, the CAHO appraised the chair about the  District profile of the Animal Husbandry sector in Kishtwar and achievements made under different schemes and the latest status of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). A threadbare discussion was held and the Mission Director gave a host of directions.

The CAHO informed that only 25 cattle heads were affected by Lumpy Skin Disease in the district and of which 20 animals have recovered, while LSD vaccination is going on in the district in a mission mode.The Director stressed on intensifying the LSD vaccination to vaccinate the maximum number of animals in the shortest possible time. 

The Chair directed the CAHO to formulate an action plan to make the district free from LSD and utilize services of the college students, Volunteers, PRIs and Youth to spread awareness about the prevention against LSD.

The Chair also directed the CAHO to activate field functionaries for creating maximum awareness regarding the control measures of diseases via door to door awareness campaigns/camps in susceptible villages.

Direction were also given to form village Level Committees headed by concerned Sarpanch, who shall in turn constitute a team of 5 volunteer youth ward wise for awareness of LSD in their respective Panchayat.

It was held in the meeting that youth Volunteers, who participate in the LSD awareness campaign shall be appreciated.The Chair further directed to lift the LSD Vaccine for remaining susceptible animals immediately.

The chair also reviewed the status of NAIP-IV& Livestock Insurance in the District. He stressed upon the need to increase the Artificial Insemination in the district and achieve the target in the given time frame.

The Mission Director, Dairy Development J&K highlighted the Importance of Dairy Cooperative societies and stressed upon the formation and registration of Dairy cooperative societies and bringing all dairy units established under IDDS under the ambit of Dairy Society to take maximum benefit of different schemes.

The Mission Director was also informed that the subsidy of Narinder Singh and Bansi Lal  residents of Padder under IDDS scheme for the year 2021-22 have not been released yet. The chair directed to take up the matter with Directorate Animal Husbandry Jammu for early release of the subsidy.

The meeting was informed that 3 cases have been submitted to DAHI under IDDS scheme for the current financial year 2022-23 for the Milk pasteurizer, Curd Milking Machine, D.G Set, Vermi compost. In this regard directions were issued to take up the matter with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry for early release of sanction order in favour of the beneficiaries.

The Chair stressed on the implementation of KCC scheme in  letter and spirit, Fixation of VAS wise targets regarding Vermi Compost Unit.The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks to the chair.
