Control measures for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) reviewed at Bandipora

A meeting regarding Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) was chaired by DDC Chairman, Abdul Gani Bhat at mini Secretariat Bandipora today.The meeting was attended by Vice Chairperson, DDC Bandipora,  Kousar Shafeeq, ADC, Bandipora, Raja Waseem, CAHO Bandipora, Dr G A Lone, DSHO Bandipora,  ACD Bandipora Ab Rashid besides others 

During the meeting, CAHO, briefed regarding the current status of the disease, progress of vaccination, case fatality rate and treatment strategy for the affected animals.Dr  Lone further detailed the chair that the vaccination is only way out to safe guard the livestock from this dreadful disease and is being conducted throughout the district including remotest valley of Gurez.      

So far 65% of the animals eligible for Carpet Vaccination stand vaccinated and rest 35% will be vaccinated within 5 days.He requested the chair for two incinerators one each for block Bandipora and sumbal  so as to carry scientific and hygienic disposal of carcasses.

The chair expressed satisfaction over the controlled status of the disease in the District by way of treatment of affected animals, proper disposal of the carcasses, disinfection of the affected premises, spraying of the insecticides and prompt Vaccination strategies followed by the officials of AHD Bandipora.
