As part of the ongoing Jan Abhiyan and in run up to the phase fourth of Back to Village programme, Social Welfare Department (SWD) Anantnag in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today organised a one day workshop on Legal Rights of Women and celebratory function on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Govt Degree College for Women, here. 

These activities form an important component of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav in which 75 years of the country's freedom are commemorated.Executive Director JK Rehabilitation Council, Syed Ishfaq Ahmad attended the event as Chief Guest while Principal of the College, Dr. Irfana, Secretary DLSA, Mir Wajahat, DSWO and TSWO Anantnag, faculty members from GDC Women, officials from DHEW, OSC, DCPU Anantnag and students were also present.

On the occasion, resource persons enlightened the participants about various legal and constitutional rights of women. Speakers also highlighted the role of women for adding prosperity and glory to the nation.

Secretary DLSA delivered an impressive talk on the legal rights and empowerment of women. He shared his insights on the social-economic, political and legal dimensions of the topic.Faculty members and students from the college spoke at length during the workshop. 

They highlighted the role of constitutional and the legal framework in empowering women.The seminar witnessed a vibrant debate on the issues and challenges confronting women and the role of various stakeholders in addressing those. 

Besides, lectures and cultural activities on the theme of Beti Bacha Beti Padhao were also presented.Later, the female students who have excelled in academics, etc and the student artists were felicitated with Dignity Kits, Mementos and Trophies under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme. 

They also received appreciation and encouragement from the audience.At the conclusion, the DSWO Anantnag presented a vote of thanks and also administered the pledge of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to the participants.
