In order to make the functioning of National Helpline for senior citizens (Elder Line 14567) more smooth and effective in the district, a meeting of Officers and stakeholders was today held at DC Office Kupwara.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat chaired the meeting. During the meeting, stakeholders were sensitized about their role and responsibilities by the State Programme Manager, Elder line and Field Response officer.

It was informed that the senior citizens can call the helpline on toll free number 14567 daily from 8am to 8pm in case of need of assistance.Moreover, the issues faced by the elderly citizens and mechanism in place for their prompt redressal was also discussed threadbare.

The meeting was attended by SDM Karnah, SDPO Handwara, Tehsildars and officers from line departments.
