Commissioner Secretary Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sanjeev Verma, who is also the Electoral Roll Observer for twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, today chaired an officers’ meeting to review progress on Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to October 1, 2022 as the qualifying date.
The meeting had a detailed discussion regarding the progress achieved under Special Summary Revision process in the districts, so far.While addressing the meeting, Commissioner Secretary instructed the concerned officers to conduct revision strictly in accordance with the Election Commission of India guidelines and schedule with timely completion.
He asked the officers to ensure that every youth above the age of 18 years or having attained the age of 18 years as on October 01, 2022 shall enroll themselves and exercise his/her right to vote which is possible only if every eligible person is registered as a voter.
Sanjeev Verma exhorted upon the concerned officers to be vigilant while making addition of new voters and left out voters as well besides deletion of duplicate voters to avoid errors and completion of the process before the due date.
He also directed the officers to further issue instructions to all the officers and officials associated with the SSR to work with dedication to complete the exercise in a time bound manner with 100 percent enrolment of eligible voters.
Commissioner Secretary also stressed the concerned to work in tandem to increase the percentage of enrolment in the district.Sanjeev Verma also interacted with the BLOs during the meeting and asked them to remain stationed at their Booth level offices on scheduled dates and conduct door to door visits to ensure that all eligible persons are registered as voters at the earliest.Among others the meeting was attended by District Election Officer Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, EROs and AEROs.
