On the direction and under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (Nodal Officer) Zubair Ahmed,the District Hub For Empowerment Of Women, Mission Shakti Kishtwar celebrated International Day Of Girl Child at Govt. Girls Hr. Sec School Kishtwar.
This year the theme of International Day of the Girl Child is- "Our time is now—our rights, our future".The participants were sensitised about and how this day increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender.
Students also participated in a Debate competition and spoke on the importance of this day. Prizes were also distributed at the end.Specialist on Gender equality from Mission Shakti Kishtwar, spoke about the importance of girl child and various schemes like Ladli Beti, Sukanya Samridhi , Childhelpline 1098, women helpline 181 initiated for the empowerment and socio-economic uplift of women and stressed that change starts by changing our perception and girl child is not burden.
