On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, a mega Gram Sabha was today conducted at Panchayat Ghar Kijpara, Kangan under the chairmanship of  Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan.The event was organised to acquaint the general public about the role of PRIs and how important it was for all and sundry to strengthen such institutions.

It was impressed upon all the sectoral officers of Sub Division Kangan that  involvement of PRIs in various convergent initiatives of the Government can be of great help.The event was attended by humongous number of people ranging from General Public to sectoral officers  particularly SDPO Kangan, Commanding officer 118 Battalion CRPF, BDC Chairperson Kangan/ Gund, DDC members, BDO Kangan, Naib Tehsildar Plang etc and media fraternity as well.

Speaking on the occasion, the SDM Kangan highlighted basic principles entailed in the life of Mahatma Gandhi like Non-violence, Swachhta, Truthfulness, striving hard( Satyagraha) which one needs to adhere to in right earnest and how these things should manifest in way of deliverance of basic amenities to masses. 

SDM further extrapolated the need for convergence of schemes cum Govt. initiatives at the grass roots level. While referring to the Special Summary revision of electoral rolls in AC 17- Kangan ( ST),  SDM  emphasised on maximum enrolment cum inclusion of registration of voters. 

Accordingly the outstanding performers in BLO category were felicitated on the occasion.SDM Kangan also distributed land pass books to the land owners and deliberated upon the essence of digitization programme under JKLRMP( Jammu & Kashmir Land Records and Modernization Programme ) and how effectively Patwaries down the line have worked tirelessly to make the same a reality.

SDM Kangan and PRIs spoke to the media fraternity while highlighting the importance of conducting Gram Sabhas and assured that genuine demands, queries ,impediments visa viz  repairs of roads, water supply, health care, education facilities etc shall be addressed and Sub Divisional Administration will always be at the service of common people.
