Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated Atal Super Specialty Medical Institute at Chamiyana near Shimla constructed at a cost of Rs. 262 crore under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna-III. He also laid foundation stone of Critical Care Block to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore and of Advanced Diagnostic Centre to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 42 crore to further strengthen the health facilities in the State.

While addressing the people on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was determined to provide high quality medical facilities to the people of the state for which health infrastructure has been strengthened. 

He said that this hospital would provide world class specialized health care facilities to the people of the State. He said that the credit of this institution also goes to the then Union Health Minister and present National BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda. 

He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going to dedicate AIIMS at Bilaspur on 5th of next month. He said that the Satellite Centre of PGI was also being set up at Una at a cost of Rs. 450 crore and the Central Government has provided Medical College at  Mandi, Chamba, Hamirpur and Nahan in Sirmour. He said that presently the State has six medical colleges in the Government sector alone and one Medical College in the private sector.

Chief Minister said that the focus of the State Government was to strengthen the existing health infrastructure of the State. He said that this Institute would have ten super specialized departments with 50 ICUs and 283 normal beds with centralized supply of oxygen. 

He said that this hospital will also have nine operation theatres, two cath labs and city scan facilities. He said that this Institute would have Open Heart Surgery, Angioplasty, T.A.V.I, BMU, I.V.U.S and 4D-ultrasound facilities.  

In addition to this the hospital would have facilities for neurosurgery, kidney transplantation and urology procedures including laparoscopic surgery and lithotripsy, beside Nephrology services including dialysis, he added. 

Jai Ram Thakur said that this Super Specialty Hospital would also have facilities of GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Neurology services, E.E.G., EMG and facilities of stroke therapy.Chief Minister said that the Advanced Diagnostic Center, foundation stone of which was laid by him today, would further strengthen the health facilities. 

He said that under this, advanced diagnostic facilities would be provided for all highly specialized departments. He said that under the Prime Minister's Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, 14 Critical Care Blocks would be constructed at a total cost of Rs. 350 crore in order to strengthen the health infrastructure to deal with the emergency situation like Covid-19 epidemic in the state in future.  

He said that Rs. 25 crore would be spent on each Critical care block.  He said that the hospital would also have a facility of plastic surgery and a total of about 300 posts have been created for this Medical Institute.

The Chief Minister also planted a sapling in the Campus on the occasion.Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that 1860 posts of doctors were filled during this period and the process was on to fill 500 more posts of doctors. 

He said that the Chief Minister's Medical Assistance Fund scheme was being run for the treatment of the needy persons. 48 oxygen plants and more than 1000 ventilators were made available in the state, besides capacity of more than 11000 oxygenated beds has been created in the state, he added. 

He said that credit of this goes to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who ensured that people get the best health care facilities at their door steps.Principal Atal Super Speciality Hospital Dr. Rajneesh Pathania welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. 

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, former MLA Roop Das Kashyap, Vice Chairman State Civil Supplies Corporation Baldev Tomar, Principal Secretary Health Subhaseesh Panda, Principal IGMC Dr. Sita Thakur, District Shimla BJP President Ravi Mehta, BJP leader from the area Vijay Jyoti Sen, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi were present on the occasion among others.

Later the Chief Minister inspected the work of under construction Dhali Tunnel and directed the executing agencies for its time bound completion. He also laid the foundation stone of Rs. 1.26 crore Car Parking and Community Centre near the Dhali Tunnel.
