The weekly Block Diwas was today held at twin blocks of Qazigund and Mattan in Anantnag district.At Qazigund, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised by the visiting people while at Mattan, the event was presided over by BDC Chairman Khoveripora.
Addressing the issues raised by people on the occasion at Town Hall Qazigund, the ADDC said that genuine demands and concerns will be taken up on priority. Giving patient hearing to grievances related to electricity, water supply, road maintenance issues, the ADDC discussed each grievance with concerned line departments and passed directions for resolution of grievances.
DDC Member Vessu Qazigund, Bilal Ahmad Deva was present on the occasion and said that rationalization of development plans is necessary for equitable development of the area. He said that line departments should discuss proposed projects with concerned PRIs so that gap areas in necessities are filled in all the pockets.
BDC Chairman Khoveripora presided over the Block Diwas at Mattan Anantnag. The camp was attended by PRI members including Sarpanches and Panches and a large number of local people from the adjacent villages, Auqaf Committees, civil society members and prominent citizens of the area who raised their issues and demands before the chair.
The main demands raised include construction of bridge at Hardakad, drinking water facilities for Silgam habitation, development of sports stadium in Khayar and other panchayat halqas of Khoveripora, construction of link and interior roads besides uninterrupted electric supply during winter season, organizing sports tournament in Rambirpora, release of material component of MNREGA, etc.The BDC chairman heard the issues and demands patiently and assured of timely redressal.
He assured the general public of all possible assistance in mitigating their problems and issues. He appealed to the officers present and PRI’s for close coordination to ensure prompt delivery of essential services.He said that the development plan formulated by the Gram Sabhas for the current fiscal works is as per the need and demand of the public.
He also expressed happiness that the PRI members were fairly satisfied with the work of the line departments including PDD, Jal Shakti, PMGSY, R&B and others.Among others, BDO Khoveripora, BMO Mattan, SHO Mattan, and officers of Irrigation & Flood Control, R&B, Social Welfare, Fisheries etc were present.
