Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur performed inaugurations and foundation stones of 33 developmental projects worth about Rs. 90 crore at Karsog for Karsog assembly constituency of Mandi district today.
While addressing a largely attended public meeting at Karsog in Karsog Vidhan Sabha area of Mandi district today as part of Pragtisheel Himachal: Sathapna Ke 75 Varsh programme, the Chief Minister announced opening of Degree College at Pangna, starting of M.A. History and M.Sc. Classes at Degree College Karsog.
He also announced opening of Ayurvedic Health Centre at Dhar, upgradation of Veterinary Dispensary Tattapani to Veterinary Hospital, opening of Sub Tehsil at Ashla, opening of Health Sub Centres at Shansh and Pokhi and construction of Forest Inspection Hut at Khanayol Bagra.
Chief Minister said that Congress party was passing through a difficult phase as on the one hand the Congress was on organizing Bharat Jado Yatra, the Congress MLAs of Goa and senior Congress leaders Gulam Nabi Azad, Himachal Congress Working President Pawan Kajal and sitting MLA Lakhvinder Rana has launched Congress Chodo campaign.
He said that now a senior Congress leader of the State Ram Lal Thakur has resigned as Senior Vice President of the party accusing the Congress leadership of nepotism and self-projection. He said that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi even measures wheat flour in litres, which shows his ignorance towards the common man’s issues.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the 75 years of celebration of the formation of Himachal by the present State Government was not going well with the Congress leaders. He said that it was unfortunate that these leaders were seeing politics even in celebration of this historic event.
He said that the sole objective of organizing this celebration was to acknowledge the contribution and express its gratitude to the people of the State for their role in making Himachal Pradesh a frontrunner State of the country in matters of development.
He said that the Congress leaders could also have organized such an event on completion of 50 years of Statehood of Himachal Pradesh, but they did not even think of this as they were busy in other activities.
Chief Minister said that on the time of formation of the State, its population was only 11 lakh which has gone upto over 70 lakh. He said that the State had an area of 25,839 sq. kms whereas today the State has a total area of 55,763 sq. kms.
He said that today the literacy rate of the State was over 83 per cent, as compared to a literacy rate of little over 4.8 per cent in 1948. He said that the State has made immense progress in the field of health, education, horticulture, tourism and allied sectors.
He thanked the people of the State for their whole hearted support to the present State Government. He also thanked the people for showering their blessing and affection on a son of the mason. He said that the opposition leaders were finding it difficult to digest the clarion call of the present State Government to ensure ‘Mission Repeat’.
He said that it was unfortunate that the Congress in the State was misleading the youth by organizing ‘Yatra’ against unemployment. He said that youth would not get carried away by their canards. He said that thousands of employments were provided in the State in the government sector alone.
He said that over 10,000 posts were filled in Jal Shakti Vibhag and 5000 workers were being appointed in PWD alone. He said that assistance of Rs. 1 crore was being provided to youth to start their self-employment ventures.
Jai Ram Thakur said that by launching welfare schemes such as Mukhya Mantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna, Sahara Yojna, HIMCARE, Mukhya Mantri Swabalamba Yojna etc., the present Government ensured that welfare schemes bring pleasing changes in the lives of the common man.
He said that 50 per cent concession was being provided to women on bus fares in HRTC buses and 125 units power was being provided free of cost to domestic power consumers. He also accused the Congress leaders of misleading the people by giving ten guarantees.

Local MLA Hira Lal while welcoming the Chief Minister to his home constituency said that the Karsog area has witnessed unparalleled development during the tenure of the present State Government. He said that Rs 300 crore was spent on construction of roads and bridges in the area.
He said that several developmental projects which were hanging fire for many years were completed during this period. He said that several welfare schemes have been launched in the State for welfare and betterment of every section of the society. He also detailed a few developmental demands of the area.
