Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar visited Mastrang Chitkul and Nagesti Post of II Corps of Indian Tibet Border Police on his second day in Kinnaur district. It was a contented moment for the soldiers when the Governor tied rakhis on the wrists of the soldiers.

These rakhis were sent by children from different schools of Goa, to whom the Governor himself came and tied to the soldiers and conveyed the message of affection of the children. On the occasion, women soldiers also tied these rakhis to the Governor on his wrist. The Governor also tied rakhis to the soldiers of the army at the Nagesti post.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the children have written their names, name of their school and the class they belong to on these rakhis. He informed that one of their organizations used to collect rakhis every year from children in Goa and send it to the soldiers.

But, when he came to Himachal as a Governor, he decided that he himself would come among the soldiers with Rakhis. He said that last year he visited the border area of Lahaul-Spiti and tied rakhis to the jawans. It was his good fortune that this time he came to Kinnaur and was here among the soldiers of II Battalion of ITBP.

Shri Arlekar said, “Jawans keep protecting us throughout the year. That's why Raksha Bandhan is also forever. The rakhis that have come from Goa are the love of the Goans.”He said that the soldiers guarding their borders actually protect us. Soldiers have come here from every corner of the country and cared about our safety without caring about their lives, he added. He expressed his gratitude towards the soldiers.

He also praised the beautiful campus of the post and said that it was more beautiful than Goa where I would like to stay for a few days. He said that nature has been protected by the soldiers.Earlier, Prem Singh, DIG, ITBP welcomed the Governor and gave detailed information related to the post. He expressed his gratitude to the Governor for choosing ITBP for this activity. On the occasion, the Governor spent some time with the soldiers and had tea with them.
