The Teaching Practice groups of Government College of Education, Jammu organised Poster Making competition and Slogan Writing competition in 16 government schools of Jammu region on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’.Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Convener, SPARSH Committee of the College organised the event.

The event was held across several government schools of the region under the supervision of teaching group supervisors viz. Prof. Shalini Rana, Dr Rajinder Kaur, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, Prof. Sushma Bala,  Prof. Mansi Sharma, Prof. Rubina Yasmeen, Prof. Shapia Shameen, Prof. Vinay Lata, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Sunita, Prof. Seema, Prof. Shalini Sharma and others.

The GCOE  Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta,  in her message said that the prospective teachers need to sensitise the young children about gender equality right from the beginning. She asserted that women are no lesser than men in all aspects and the time has come to give women their due position in the society by removing all the hurdles that may stop them from exploring their potential.

About 200 students of B.Ed Semester-4 participated in this awareness programme in 16 government schools of Jammu. Students made posters on ‘Girl Child Rights’, ‘Raising Voice Against Sexual Harassment', ‘Dowry as a Social Evil' and ‘Women’s Safety and Security '.
