Marking the occasion of Engineers’ Day, CEC-CGC Landran inaugurated the 4th edition of the annual ‘International Conference on Innovations in Communication Computing & Sciences’ and ‘International Conference on Contemporary Advances in Mechanical Engineering’, today. 

Jointly organised by the institution’s Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) departments, the two-day conference aims to provide a platform to students, industry experts, researchers and innovators from the engineering community to come together, discuss, share the latest research and technological advancements in these disciplines and exploring ways to implement them optimally. Souvenirs to mark the occasion were also released by the dignitaries. 

The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. R.K. Garg, Head, Centre of Reliability Improvement in Industry, NIT, Jalandhar in the presence of Guests of Honour, Dr. Sanjay Sood, Associate Director,C-DAC, Mohali and. Prof. Dr. Inderdeep Singh, Head, Department of  Design, IIT, Roorkee. 

Extending their best wishes to the audience on the occasion of Engineers’ Day, the speakers shared their thoughts on the theme of the conference. They also highlighted the contributions being made by the engineering community in nation-building. 

In addition to emphasising the importance of innovation, interdisciplinary collaborative approach in engineering education they also urged future engineers to come up with innovations keeping in mind their design affordability and impact on the environment.  

Co-relating the importance of innovation in engineering concepts, Dr Sood also shared the success story behind the creation of National Telemedicine Service - eSanjeevani developed by the team at C-DAC Mohali which he added proved that, ‘Innovation was the concept used to scale technology.’

The conference which is being held in the hybrid mode (both offline and online modes) will see the participation of experts drawn from national and international institutions. Some of the eminent speakers at the event include Mr Michael Kahl, Raith Technology, Amsterdam, Netherland, who is scheduled to speak on ‘Nanofabrication for quantum computing’, Prof. Jamel Orfi,  Department of Mechanical Engineering, King Saud University, Prof. Sanjay Kumar Mangal, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), among a host of others.The conference saw 400-plus paper submissions with 175 papers being selected for registration and presentation.
