In continuation to the weekly field visits under public outreach programme, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today visited several Municipal wards in Ramban Town and took stock of civic facilities provided to the residents.He also checked medical shops and other business establishments in the town.

During the tour, the Deputy Commissioner paid a surprise visit to District Hospital and Tehsil Library, Ramban to inspect the working of the twin institutions.The DC was accompanied by   President Ramban Municipal Council,  Sunita Sumbria; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Sharma; Councillor MC, Khalid Wani; Tehsildar, Rafiq Ahmed; Drug Control Officer, Imtyaz Ahmed  and a group of civil society members.  

Taking cognizance of un-managed water connections which is affecting the lane and drain system in the town, the Deputy Commissioner directed Engineers of Jal Shakti Department to submit a proposal to   streamline the system of water supply connection, besides regularizing the un- authorized connections in the town within prescribed time.

The DC also directed the Municipal authorities to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the drainage system in the town. He further asked the Municipal Council to focus on revenue generation and start a door-to-door garbage collection to make the town neat and clean.

The President, Councillor and other prominent citizens raised several issues of public interest like maintenance of the drainage system near the District Court Complex, Higher Secondary School and the deep drains in ward number 4 and 5. The Deputy Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officers to immediately take action to resolve the issues on priority basis.  

While inspecting medical shops, the Deputy Commissioner directed the owners to provide authentic computerized bills to customers, while the Drug Control Officer was directed to ensure implementation of direction in letter and spirit.The Deputy Commissioner also took stock of cleanliness and sanitation in District Hospital, Ramban, besides reviewing the healthcare facilities being provided to patients.

The DC directed the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mahoob to submit a report on referral cases. He also inspected the proposed accommodation for establishment of OPD for drug de-addiction cases. He directed the Medical Superintendent to purchase all proposed health care and diagnostic equipment sanctioned under CSR plan for the convenience of the public.
