The characters of R Madhavan and Khushalii Kumar, who have a happy marriage, are introduced in the trailer. However, one incident completely upends their way of life. The arrival of the terrorist figure played by Aparshakti Khurana sets up the twist. In the trailer, Aparshakti Khurana portrays the terrorist who holds Khushalii captive in her own home. She is shown in the teaser initiating an unexpected discussion with him and attempting to win him over. As suggested by the movie's title, it appears that R Madhavan is not the only one who is deceiving her.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, director Kookie Gulati revealed that he is worried about Dhokha's release at times when Hindi films aren't working well. “Oh, not at all! I think the space that we are in right now is the space where people are recognising content. And I don't think I could have come at a better time [than this].”
"I think I couldn't have come at a better time when the audience is so aware. That's why we have got a phenomenal response to the teaser. Much better than I ever expected,” he further added.
