Teachers Day: DC Budgam announces ‘One Officer – One School initiative’ for quality education

In a major development, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today announced a mega, One Officer- One School initiative to ensure quality education and effective conduct of co- curricular activities at all schools in the district.This was announced by the DC while attending a Teachers Day function at Conference Hall Budgam, presided over by Lieutenant Governor J&K virtually in Srinagar.

At the outset, the DC extended his greetings to all teachers of the district for their dedication and hard work in shaping the future of the nation.He said on this day, District Administration Budgam is starting an initiative, under which each gazetted officer shall adopt one or two schools voluntarily in the district.

DC, who himself adopted five Primary schools, said the aim is to ensure that all schools in the district are adopted by October- 02, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.In this regard, a MoU was signed between ADC Budgam, Dr Nasir Ahmad and CEO Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad under the supervision of DC.

The DC said that 34 schools have been adopted in the first phase of the initiative, under which the concerned officer shall visit adopted schools twice a month and provide mentorship, arrange motivational speakers, resource persons on different subjects and help in organising co-curricular activities and massive student involvement at all schools of the district.

He said the concerned officers shall look after overall development and keep on highlighting administrative issues and submit the list of issues and demands with the higher ups for redressal at the earliest.Terming the initiative as important for improvement in dissemination of quality education and overall development of the students, the DC said that concerned officers shall work as bridge between school and the administration to take our education sector to new heights.

He said though the imparting education shall lie with teachers only, however, main objective is to ensure teachers remain for teaching purposesAmong others, ZEOs, Principals and a good gathering of senior school teachers attended the function along with other   senior officers of the various departments.
