As we all know, today is ‘Teacher’s Day’. Every year on 5 September it is celebrated as ‘Teacher’s Day’. It was first celebrated in the year of 1962. Dr. RadhaKrishnan Sarvepalli, was born on 5 Sept, 1888. On his 77 birthday, the first teacher's day was celebrated. He was the second president of the country and the first vice president of India. He had received “Bharat Ratna” which is India’s first award of Honour. He was a teacher and a politician who loved children very much. And this is the reason why his birthday is celebrated as Teachers Day.

This year’s theme of Teacher’s day is “Teachers:leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. This theme defines the role of teachers in our lives. They make their students well-educated or disciplined people who can rub society and country with their wisdom.

But in today's scenario, are the teachers playing an important role or not? We have seen a lot of teachers who abuse their students, not even doing their jobs with enthusiasm. It is not against anyone or even trying to defame any kind of profession. If we talk about the schools of Bihar, when media cells went with their teams and caught them sleeping during lectures which made people aware of the school teacher’s performance not even Teachers, are children also beloved by their teachers or celebrate it as a ritual?

A few days back it was also seen that the students were beating the teacher for not giving them good marks in practical exams. They came together because the teacher failed them in practicals, which put them out of control. Then they beat him with the tree, beat him. All these incidents raise the question of whether we really celebrate Teachers' Day nowadays or whether are we following a ritual. It was Radhekrishanan, who really loved the children, loved to teach them, educate them.

Recently, Punjab CM, in a Teacher's Day speech said that initially, we have to start the revolution from home. Why did he say that? Once a teacher was addressing himself as “Nation Builder”. Then the CM of Punjab asked a question: are your kids also learning in government schools? The teacher said no. He asked why? Teacher replied that because there is no good education in government schools. Government school teacher’s children are studying in private schools.

And the students who are coming to a government school to attain their education are lacking. This needs to be solved, because gaining a good education is a basic Human Right.
