Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: Poppy destruction drive carried out in Rajouri

In continuation to Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, a poppy destruction drive was today carried out in Rajouri at Bela Colony.The drive was carried out by the District Administration in collaboration with the Police Department under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Aslam; Addl. SP, Vivek Shekhar; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt and others officers, staff of MC Rajouri took part in the drive.Speaking to locals, the SSP said that the drive has been carried out with the purpose to completely destroy illicit poppy cultivation in the district which is a source of morphine.

Enumerating the steps being taken to curb the menace of drug abuse, he said that the Government was making dedicated efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and keep the youth on the right track so that they can contribute more and more to the development of the nation.

"Youth are the future of our country and should participate in nation-building activities and not fall prey to the drug menace,” he said.Stressing upon the prevention and curability aspects of drug de-addiction, he asked the concerned stakeholders to motivate the youth to channelize their energy towards positive direction.

He also underlined the importance of sports activities in keeping the youth away from drug abuse and said that the Government is fully committed to giving impetus to sporting activities and necessary measures are being taken to provide them the best possible platforms to the budding players where they can showcase their talent.

The SSP also called on all sections of the society to make people aware about the bad effects of drugs and work for a happy and prosperous society.
