Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated India’s 76th Independence Day at the campus, where Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal hoisted the Tri-Colour. Addressing the students and staff members, Chancellor Dr Mittal invoked all of them to continue with hard-work in their respective domains to make the country stronger on all fronts.

Illustrating the forceful strength of Indian democracy from the day one of India’s constitutional independence; Dr Mittal shared that the biggest considered democracies in the world took hundreds of years to progress. However, once with only meagre means, India is today among the top five countries of the world. 

Quoting an example of a king and contributory milk for a pond; Dr Mittal urged all to contribute their best towards all-round progress of the country. Never grumble for things not done; be proud to add to achievements made so far for the ever glory of the country.

On this occasion, one kilometre long procession comprising thousands of achievers and performing students in diverse domains including NCC, NSS, innovation, research, Sports, cultural activities and more also saluted the hoisted national flag. LPU’s Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, Director General Er HR Singla also accompanied Dr Mittal.

Patriotic mime, skit, songs, band show, kavi sammelan were also organized to let students imbibe nationalism to the core. During this all, patriotic slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai, Vande Maatram, Jai Hind and more” kept on echoing at the campus throughout the celebrations. 

Bollywood actor Upasana Singh and her team also added lustre to the celebratory mood of the audience, which continuously showcased zeal towards independence.Illustrative, a day before, the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign of the government had also heightened the national fervour at the campus, wherein Tri-colours were individually hoisted at the 80 blocks of the University. 

The whole of the campus was especially decorated in tri-colours to convert it into “the Rajpath of New Delhi’ in miniature form. Tonnes of sweets were distributed to all of the employees, and bags full of substantial products were also provided to non- technical support staff.
