War Veterans, Police Martyrs conclave held at Anantnag

Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Har Ghar Tiranga, a conclave to felicitate war veterans, police martyrs and COVID warriors was held at Dak Bungalow here. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla and CO Sector 1 RR Amandeep Malhi felicitated the veterans. ADC Anantnag Ghulam Hassan Sheikh was also present. 

DC Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla extended greetings of Independence Day to the veterans and Veer Naris. He said that under the aegis of Har Ghar Tiranga program several activities are being organized in the district. He said the program is an excellent platform for people to express their love towards the nation.

 He said it also sensitizes the citizens towards their duty to the country. He encouraged people to take part in the program and become a part of this historical occassion. The DC also said that a special camp under Ayushman Bharat will be organized for ex-service personnel so that they can reap the benefits of the scheme. 

Amandeep Malhi, Commander Sector 1 RR, said that a soldier is always ready to face any challenge. He said the veterans being celebrated today have selflessly served the country for years. He said that the martyrs have made the supreme sacrifice in protecting the country and we shall always remain in their debt. Mubarak Ahmad Khan, 93 years old, a  Veteran of 3 wars was felicitated on the occassion. 

He said that in his 28 year long service career, he has satisfactorily dispensed his duties and has selflessly serviced his fellow citizens. ADC Sheikh said the entire country is indebted to the martyrs for their selfless services and the nation is proud of these guardians. He said that during the COVID pandemic the services offered by the ex-service personnel were instrumental in mitigating the effects and controlling the pandemic. 

Rashid War, Zila Sainik Officer Anantnag said that there is no ex soldier, a soldier is bound by duties lifelong and spends his entire life in selfless service of his brethren. He said that during COVID pandemic, ex-servicemen volunteered their services in unprecedented numbers and saved many lives. 

Ali Mohammad Khan, retired Subedar Major, a resident of Gopalpora said that 10 war veterans from his village have served in the World War II. He said that the local population has been at the forefront in offering their services for defending our borders. 

He said that welfare of the ex-service personnel has been a priority for the administration and effective steps taken in this direction have resulted in evident change. Mukhtar Ahmad, Hawaldar from Mattan thanked the District Administration for their continued support towards the welfare of the ex-service personnel.The DC and Commander Sector 1 RR felicitated various war veterans, Veer Naris on the occasion and thanked them for their contribution.
