The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today chaired a meeting of District Level Forest Rights Act (DLFRA) Committee, here at D.C Office Kupwara.The DC stressed upon the members to work with diligence as the onus lies upon them.He directed them to go through the procedures laid down under the Forest Rights Act for its smooth implementation on ground.

The DC also made the participants familiar with the major provisions of the Forest Rights Act.On the occasion, it was informed that total number of cases discussed during FRC level is 2188. Out of which, 1155 cases were rejected, while as, 983 cases were cleared. These include 760 IRFC and 223 CFRC level cases.

It was also informed that the cases cleared by FRC shall be placed before Sub Divisional Level Forest Committee headed by ADC Handwara, ACR Kupwara and SDM Lolab for examination and further recommendations. While as the cases cleared by Sub Divisional Level Forest Committee shall be placed before District Level Committee for final decisions.The meeting was attended by members of District and Sub Divisional Level Committee members including ADC Handwara, ACR Kupwara, SDM Lolab, DFOs, Tehsildars, BDOs, Range Officers and other concerned officers.
