Union Minister for State (MoS) Commerce and Industry  Som Parkash today asked the officials to personally monitor the ongoing development projects and welfare schemes sponsored by the Government of India to ensure timely completion and quality control besides reaching out the needy ones through welfare schemes.

Today, while chairing the meeting of “DISHA“ in capacity of chairman alongwith Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Vishesh sarangal, MLA Kapurthala Rana Gurjit sijgh , MLA Bholtah Sukhpal singh Khaira, representatives of MLA Sultanpur Lodhi , Kapurthala and Phagwara, the Union state minister said that the benefit of welfare schemes must reach to all eligible applicants.

Taking stock of the proposed Medical College at Kapurthala, the minister has asked the officials to speed up the project work. Officials from Government Medical College Amritsar who appointed as a nodal officer for that project has informed that the design for medical college has been finalised. The minister said that the Union government has provided Rs. 50 crore for that and medical council has approved the admission for 2023-24 batch in the college.

The minister also reviews the National health mission , Jal Jeevan Mission , household tab connections to supply drinkable water to each and every home, swacch Bharat mission , Construction of roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojana , National family benefit scheme , Beti Bachao, Beti Parao to ensure security and education for all girl students, MNREGA and Pradhan Mantri Krishi sinchai Yojana etc.

The minister has asked all the heads of departments to personally monitor the ongoing development projects to ensure quality check besides its timely completion.Apart from this, he also asked to put proposals for new development required to facilitate people.The minister also take stock of the smart city Sultanpur Lodhi projects besides asking officials to work on war footing so that the holy city could have facelift by getting adequate funds.

It may be mentioned here that total 3 projects have already been completed , out of 7 which were sponsored by the Union Government.Besides, the Minister also reviews the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana under which nearly 19000 farmers were availing the benefits .To save the rain water , the minister advocates to properly implement Amrit Sarovar schemes under which 75 ponds to be constructed across the district . 

District officials has informed that 5 ponds have been completed in each block in the district and remaining are in Pipeline .Deputy Commissioner assured the union minister that the district administration would leave no stone unturned for the utilisation of Government funds in a speedy manner.

Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials to submit utilisation certificates of projects completed in 15 days so that the district administration may avail more funds for development and social welfare .Prominent amongst present on the occasion included ADC G Ajay Arora , ADC Urban Development Anupam Kler , SDM Hardeep singh , Representatives of MLAs Non official member of DISHA and heads of all departments.
