The BJP protested in Mohali against Congress leader Adhir Ranjan for making derogatory remarks about the country's newly appointed 15th President Draupadi Murmu. An effigy of Congress leader Adhir Ranjan was blown up and slogans raised during the dharna held in Balongi village under the leadership of BJP state executive member Sanjeev Vashisht. Sanjeev Vashisht said that the Congress should apologize for making such a comment against the President by a Congress leader, but no apology has been received from Congress President Sonia Gandhi till date. During this outcry, District Vice President Umakant Tiwari, Mandal President Anil Guddu, Rita Singh said that the post of President is a constitutional post, no one has the right to make objectionable comments about a particular person holding a post. He warned that this is beyond tolerance. The Congress party cannot tolerate a tribal woman reaching such a high position.
