As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence, the Ministry of Power in association with NHPC & JPDCL on Wednesday organised ‘Bijli Mahotsav’ in the Auditorium of Government Degree College Surankote.
The Bijli Mahotsav is being used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Centre Governments and highlight the key achievements of the power sector.Chairperson District Development Council Poonch, Tazeem Akhter and Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet inaugurated the Bijli Mahotsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Senior officials of district administration, DDC Members, BDC Chairperson and PRIs from Surankote were also present. A variety cultural programme, nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector were also organized on the occasion.
The event also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences.The Chairperson DDC Poonch, while addressing the gathering, said that the government is doing remarkable work in the field of electricity.
She lauded local administration in implementing various schemes with the help of the centre government for betterment of citizens.While speaking on the occasion, the DC Poonch highlighted the importance of electricity and the unprecedented growth achieved by the power sector over the past few years.
He further said improvement in the power sector is a continuous process and the system is regularly being updated. He also appealed to the public to make judicious use of electricity.Prominent citizens and locals from nearby villages graced the occasion.
