The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed today chaired a meeting of officers to review the status of progress/disposal of claims under Forest Rights Act (FRA) in the district.The meeting discussed progress related to FRA claims of individuals and communities and the DC directed all the concerned to assess reasons for pendency of FRA cases at FRC level.

He also directed to verify all eligible genuine FRA claims and submit the cases to sub divisional level committee for assessment. Besides, he also directed the concerned to conduct Gram Sabhas and submit the report to FRC early.The DC stressed upon the concerned to work in coordination for early disposal of FRA claims.

Dr. Owais stressed on a coordinated approach for effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act.The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Parvaiz Rahim, Assistant Commissioner Development Ab Rashid Das, BDOs, Range Officer Forest Division Bandipora and other concerned officers.
