Zero tolerance for corruption and complete transparency would be maintained in transfers in the Health & Family Welfare Department. Transfers would be made on merit and all efforts be made to adjust doctors and other employees at the nearest places of their residences. Surjeet Kumar Jayani Health & Family Welfare Minister said this while presiding over meeting of Civil Surgeons and SMO’S here today at head office of the Health Department.Jayani said that if any official or other person found involved in corruption for arranging favourable postings at any level in the department, he/she have to face strict action. He said that employees transferred on the complaints of non performance of by their seniors will not be entertained. He said that Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have directed the senior leaders of both the parties that they should not approach for transfers of such employees, who are not performing their duty properly.

Jayani strictly issued orders to put complaint boxes at the prominent places in the hospital premises, whose keys should be with the officers of the head office and these complaint boxes should be opened on regular basis. Minister further added that people should also register their complaints online by emailing to the Principal Secretary, Secretary, Additional Secretary, MD, PHSC and Director, Health. Minister also instructed the senior officials to redress the complaints on priority basis & seriously in a time bound manner. Minister said that government doctors doing private practice would not be tolerated and Civil Surgeons and CMO’s would be held accountable for such practices.

Minister said that he along with Director, Health, MD, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, Special Secretary, Health, Secretary, Health and other senior officials would conduct inspections in various hospitals of two districts on every Friday & Saturday. He reiterated that there should be no compromise with the cleanliness of wards and compounds of hospitals and dealing of doctors with the patients. Minister also advised to the district officials to plant more trees in the hospital compounds with the help of forest department in the coming monsoon season. ‘Action would be taken on the spot for any irregularity against the concerned officials, said Jayani.Earlier Mrs. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, CPS in the meeting said that district level officials should take strict action against non performing doctors and supporting staff otherwise they would be held responsible. She also advocated that proper guidelines of the Head Office should be followed for posting doctors on VIP duty.Other prominent amongst present in the meeting included; Mr. Husan Lal, MD, PHSC, Mr. Vikas Garg, Special Secretary, Health, Dr. Karanjeet Singh, Director, Health, Civil Surgeons and CMO’s from all districts and other senior officials of the Health Department.
