Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Vishesh Sarangal today launched the Drug De addiction and rehabilitation program “ DOVE” to mark the World Anti-Drug and Drug Trafficking Day at DAC Kapurthala.Drug Overdose Education and Management Project ( DOVE) to facilitate the drug de addiction and rehabilitation of the people who shun the drug.
While launching the program, Deputy Commissioner said that drug addiction has taken a serious turn all over the world, especially among the youth but Punjab was one of the states which was known for producing greenery in barren lands at home and abroad.
He said that we all need to adopt revolutionary thinking so that the drug can be eradicated. He urges parents to play the significant role in motivating their children to stay away from drugs. He appealed to all the NGOs to organize awareness camps for the youth to stay away from drugs in collaboration with the youth clubs at the community level. He assured that the district administration would extend all possible help to drug de addiction program.
Civil Surgeon Kapurthala Dr. Gurinderbir Kaur and Deputy Medical Commissioner and Dr Sandeep Bhola said that drug addiction is a huge disease which is also a huge burden on the society. "We should hate drugs and not drug addicts," they said.
