Under the able guidance of Hon'ble Chairman-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amrit Singh, IAS, District Bureau of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training, Ferozepur under Punjab Skill Development Mission a unique initiative has been undertaken wherein a special skill program has been launched with the aim of protecting the youth from drug addiction and putting them on their feet by skilling them.

This program was run for 3 months in which all the candidates were trained as plumbers and after successful completion of course all have been placed in the district either under some employment or as self employed. 

It may be recalled that the representatives of the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises and Punjab Skill Development Mission have been urging the registered youth in the Oatt Center at the Civil Hospital to visit the Oatt Center every morning and give up drugs.

Some of the youngsters responded positively and expressed their desire to learn the skill. Out of these, a special skill course of 30 de-addicted youths was started on the direction of Hon'ble Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur. 

After the course completion, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur met the youth at District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises Ferozepur and each candidate was given a special kit relating to the skill imparted so that the youth could take a step forward towards their better future.                   

It may also be mentioned here that such an initiative is a first of its kind and has been undertaken solely by Ferozepur district in the whole of Punjab. Also present at the occasion were Abhishek Sharma PCS, Mr. Harmesh Kumar, District Employment Generation Skill Development and Training Officer, Ferozepur, Mr. Gurjant Singh, Placement Officer, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, Mission Manager, Mr. Navdeep Asija, Training and Placement Manager, Manjit Kaur. , Manager, PSDM and Incharge of Skill Center Mr. Anuj Kakkar.
