Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday said that the district administration has initiated the disbursement of the awards for land acquired under Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass project and appealed the land owners to contact Competent Authorities for Land Acquisition (CALAs) immediately for compensation amount.

Participating in a virtual review meeting chaired by Principal Secretary PWD Anurag Verma, Deputy Commissioner said that in Jalandhar so far, the administration has already distributed the awards worth Rs 576.33 crore to the land owners under four highway projects including Delhi-Katra Expressway, Jalandhar Bypass, in Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass and widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover.

The DC revealed the under Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway project, an amount of Rs 54.56 crore by SDM Nakodar, Rs 157.62 crore by SDM-II and Rs 75.13 crore by SDM Phillaur have already been distributed. Further, he said that awards worth Rs 135.37 crore under widening of NH-70 and Rs 153 crore for Jalandhar Bypass project have also been disbursed besides compensation of Rs 65 lakh under Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass project has been given already.

Thori asked the concerned SDMs to further expedite the disbursement and acquisition procedures to ensure these projects can be completed within deadline.The Principal Secretary also lauded the district administration for its performance in the process of taking possession of lands.Prominent among present on the occasion included District Revenue Officer Jashanjit Singh and others.
