While speaking during the event, the Assistant Commissioner Legal Metrology highlighted the significance of the World Metrology day saying that the day pays tribute to the signature at the Metre Convention that occurred on the 20th of May, 1875.He further said that the Convention featured a coalition of seventeen nations who came together to establish the framework for global collaboration in the field of scientific measurement.Underlining the role of metrology, he said that the Metrology plays a central role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, in improving the quality of life and in protecting the global environment. The Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh, while enlightening the gathering about the importance of the World Bees day, said that the day aims to create awareness on the pivotal role of bees and other pollinators in keeping people and the planet healthy.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the day also gives an opportunity for people and a society as a whole to take actions to protect and enhance pollinators and their habitats, improve their abundance and diversity, and support the sustainable development of beekeeping. Thus contributing to solving problems related to the global food supply and eliminating hunger in developing countries.Highlighting the role of the bees in the ecosystem, he said that bees are very important for the environment as these  pollinate food crops. He also underlined the need to save bees saying that Bees are a keystone species and if bees die off it will end most life and in nature, various animals depend on bees for their survival because their food sources rely on insect pollination.Later, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal also interacted with the traders, congratulated them and facilitated them for adhering to the guidelines of the legal Metrology act.
