As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated to imbibe the spirit of Nationalism among the people, the district administration on Wednesday organized a poster making and slogan writing competition on Shaheed Bhagat Singh.Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Kumar Sharma, District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa handed over prizes among the students.

Later, addressing the students, they motivated them to follow the footsteps of martyrs in their lives. They said that martyrs laid down their lives for the sake of the country and the countrymen would ever remain indebted to them and asked them to take inspiration from their lives and serve the country with zeal and commitment.They said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an opportunity to propagate about independence movement and freedom fighters among the young generation. 

They added that India is the country with the highest population of youth in the world and they have to play a key role in further development of the country.Prominent among present on the occasion included AAP senior leader Kuljeet Singh Sarhal, ADCs Amardeep Singh Bains, Amit Sareen, SDM Navneet Kaur Bal and others.The students among included Vishaldeep Singh and Maan Kaur won first and second position in poster making besides Aanchal and Nikki secured first and second prizes in slogan writing. They also honoured a specially-abled student Simar for singing beautiful patriotic song and Komal for poem on freedom fighters.
