Calling for collective efforts in fight against drugs, Deputy Commisioner Ghanshyam Thori today said that more concerted efforts would be made to eliminate drug menace from the district.Chairing a review meeting with health and police officials here at the district administrative complex, the DC said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government has wedged a war against the drugs under which multi-pronged strategy was being adopted to fight this war. He further mentioned that a significant drop has been recorded in the recovery of drug substances including opium and poppy husk which is around seven times lower than the previous year's figures.
Meanwhile, he also reviewed the progress of drug de-addiction program and asked officials to further strengthen the working of OATS clinics.The DC also took stock of flood protection works going on around river Satluj where he asked officials to ensure completion of all projects before the onset of Monsoon. While reviewing direct seeding of rice (DSR) in the district, Mr. Thori directed a massive awareness campaign among farmers to adopt this technique to check the depleting ground-water level. He also appealed to farmers to sow moong crop before rice as state government has already declared MSP on this crop.
Reviewing the progress of grievance redressal system in Jalandhar, the DC stated that the administration has ensure zero pendency in grievance redressal as no complaint is pending beyond the timeline. He louded the efforts of entire team for maintaining zero pendency in grievance redressal. Additional Deputy Commissioner Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, District Immunization Officer Dr. Rakesh Chopra, Chief Agriculture Office Dr. Surinder Singh and other officers were present on the occasion.
