Expressing satisfaction over the security arrangements at strong rooms made for storing EVM machines, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the district administration has ensured foolproof security arrangements for the safety of the EVMs and VVPAT machines stored here at the office of Director Land Records Government Arts & Sports College and Maritorious School for the counting of votes for all nine assembly segments scheduled to take place on March 10, 2022.While visiting the strong rooms, the DC said that the machines were stored here in the presence of representatives of political parties and Election Observer, thereafter proper sealing of strong rooms were ensured by the administration.Mr. Thori said that strong room would be now opened on March 10, in the presence of the candidates and observers for counting of votes.
The deputy commissioner said that the multi-tier security arrangements have been made for the security of the EVMs and VVPAT machines in the strong room. He said that while the outer cover has been provided by the personnel of Punjab Police and Punjab Armed Police, the inner cover for security was being provided by the CAPF.Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner said that CCTV cameras have also been installed at the venue of counting centre for Surveillance of voting machines. Mr. Thori said that the LED Screens have been installed here for the candidates and representatives of political parties to check the safety of EVMs any time. Meanwhile, he directed the ROs to ensure waterproof renting at this place earmarked for the representatives of Political Parties so that they dont face any problem here. The DC reiterated free, fair and transparent elections in the district as elaborate security arrangements have been made for counting.
