Twelfth National Voters’ Day was celebrated across Jammu Division districts to promote the theme "Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative.The National Voters’ Day is celebrated to mark the foundation Day of the Election Commission of India established on January 25, 1950. The objective is to increase the enrolment of voters to make the universal adult suffrage a reality.At Doda: District Administration Doda celebrated National Voters’ Day with strict observance of Covid-19 SOPs.District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Vikas Sharma administered Pledge and distributed Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the newly registered voters. Three Booth level Officers (BLOs) Joginder Singh, Mohammad Ashraf and Bashir Ahmed were felicitated for outstanding performance in the registration of new voters and disseminating awareness in their respective jurisdictions.District Election Authority Doda also commended Dr Akhter Hussain, HOD Urdu Government Degree College Doda for  his role as master trainer during the previous Elections and spreading awareness through  short IEC videos on YouTube platform which gained much popularity among voters. It was revealed that one of his short videos has recorded 4.5 lakh viewership till date.

District Election Officer (DC) Doda also interacted  with EROs, AEROs,  CEO Doda, Principals of Degree colleges, Principals of Higher Secondary Schools and BLOs through virtual mode.Meanwhile, District Police Doda at all its units including Police Stations, Police Posts and Police pickets pledge ceremonies.Main function was held at District Police Lines, where SSP Abdul Qayoom read out the contents of the pledge and all the officers and officials repeated the same after him.After reading out the pledge , SSP Doda also briefed the officials and explained the meaning as well as purpose  of the pledge that it aims to make the use of one’s vote without any consideration of religion, caste , creed and without any fear for maximum participation in the elections.At Kishtwar: To mark the Foundation Day of the Election Commission of India (25th Jan 1950), district Administration Kishtwar celebrated the National Voters’ Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The PRI members including BDC chairpersons, DDC members, Sarpanches from across the district participated through virtual mode.The main function was held here at DC office complex Kishtwar in the presence of Deputy Commissioner (District Election Officers} Ashok Kumar Sharma.National Voters’ Day pledge was administered to the officers present and PRIs attending the programme through virtual mode.AEROs/Tehsildars and BLOs also attended the programme through virtual mode.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the theme for this year’s NVD, ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’, and reiterated the ECI’s commitment to facilitate active participation of voters during the elections and to make the voting process hassle free and a memorable experience for all categories of voters.At Samba: To celebrate the National Voters’ Day, District Administration Samba   organized a programme at conclave hall DC office where newly enrolled young voters were handed over EPIC cards by the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta.In her address, the DC highlighted the National Voters’ Day theme  “Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative.” She said that the elections in India touch every human and educating young generation about democratic principles should be given utmost importance.At Kathua: To mark the National Voters' Day, the district administration Kathua organised a pledge ceremony in all government offices with the aim to create awareness about the right to franchise among all eligible voters.At Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, DC Rahul Yadav presided over a pledge ceremony wherein officers and staff of different departments joined virtually.In his address, the DC spoke about the essence of celebrating National Voters' Day as the day provides an opportunity to encourage the eligible Voters to get registered and use their right to franchise without any bias.

Similar Pledge taking ceremonies were held in other offices and educational institutions of all sub divisions of Kathua district.AT Ramban: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam administered the Voters’ Day pledge to participants to uphold the democratic values here at a pledge taking ceremony.   The pledge exhorted young voters to be sincere, unbiased, fearless and responsible voters. Similar programmes were also held across the district with due adherence to covid SOPs. Series of events on the theme “Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible & Participative” were held to mark the Day.ADDC Ramban, Rajinder Sharma, ADC, Harbans Lal, ACR, Dhirendra Sharma, Dy. DEO, Lal Chand besides other officers and students participated in the programme.  During the programme a debate was also held in which a limited number of students participated. A cultural event was also presented by the District Information Centre Ramban.Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the day is celebrated to mark the foundation of the ECI. He urged the youth to enroll for obtaining their EPIC which is a document of pride for all Indian citizens.Later, the DC along with other dignitaries felicitated officers and officials for their exemplary contribution in registration of the new voters and disseminating awareness about free and fair election process. The participants of debate competition and cultural programme were also felicitated with trophies and certificates.

AT REASI: The 12th National Voters’ Day was celebrated across all the Tehsils of District Reasi to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India.An impressive function was organised by the District Election Office at Conference Hall, District Administrative Complex R, in which all District Officers took pledge to exercise their right to vote and further encourage every eligible voter to cast his vote. A group of students of Government Higher Secondary School also participated in the function with due observance of Covid SOPs, while others participated through virtual mode.The District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi, Charandeep Singh, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.In his address, the DEO highlighted the value of vote and the role of voters in the democratic system of Government. He said that vote has empowered individuals and urged upon them to exercise their franchise prudently to elect their representative as and when opportunity comes.Later, the DEO distributed tokens of appreciation to participating students.AT RAJOURI: District Administration Rajouri celebrated the  National Voters’ Day with the theme,' Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative'.The main event was held in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak bungalow where District Election Officer, Vikas Kundal was the chief guest.Similar programs were also organised at Subdivision and Tehsil Levels.

Addressing the event, the DEO threw light on the significance of the day saying that the Celebration of the Voters' Day is a reminder to all eligible voters about their responsibility to participate in the electoral process.While congratulating the newly registered voters for being a part of the election process, he also educated them about ethical and active participation in the electoral process. Calling for a hundred per cent registration of all eligible voters of the district, the DEO urged upon the young generation to enroll as voters to use the right to vote. He asked the concerned authorities to take effective measures to fill the gap in this regard at the earliest.The voters’ day pledge taking ceremony was also organised. The newly enrolled voters were also felicitated and were presented Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC).At Udhampur: Like in other parts of the country, 12th National Voters’ Day was celebrated in Udhampur district on the theme ” Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative". An impressive programme  was organized by District Administration Udhampur through virtual mode  at Mini  Conference Hall DC Office Complex in which school and College students and other dignitaries participated.

On this occasion, District Election Officer Indu Kanwal Chib   handed over EPIC cards to new voters. The District Election Officer also administered a pledge to all the participants to uphold the dignity of elections and vote without any fear, inducement or influence.Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the main objective of celebrating this day is to strengthen our democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote,The DEO congratulated all those who participated online/ offline and  appreciated the effort made by the Election department. She said that a number of IT initiatives have been taken by the Election Commission of India to facilitate voters.Secretary DLSA, Rajni Sharma also participated through virtual mode and threw light on the importance of national voters’ day.Earlier, Dy DEO, Dr Shavi, presented a welcome address and highlighted the importance of the National voter’s day.At Jammu: District Administration Jammu organised a function to celebrate   National Voters’ Day at DC Office Jammu . 

The function was presided over by DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan in presence of District Election Officer Anshul Garg.In his address, the DDC Chairman said that the main objective of celebrating this day is to strengthen the democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote. He stressed on the enrollment and registration of all the eligible voters of the district and urged the participants to generate awareness among their circles.The DEO, in his address, threw light on the importance of National Voters Day and appreciated the services of the functionaries for their excellent performance and exhorted upon them to continue their selfless service in future too.The newly registered voters were felicitated by presenting EPICs and badges by the DDC Chairman. The BLOs were also felicitated with appreciation certificates and cash price for their outstanding performances in elections. Voters Day pledge taking ceremony was also organised during the event.Similar programmes were organized at Sub- Divisions and Tehsil level of the district.

AT POONCH: The 12th National Voters Day function was organised under the chairmanship of District Election Officer(Deputy Commissioner), Inder Jeet  at the DC office complex.Addressing the event, the Deputy Commissioner threw light on the significance of the day, He said that the celebration of the voters Day is a reminder to all eligible voters about their responsibility to participate in the electoral process. He also said that voters can change the destiny of a nation and greater electoral participation helps in making good policies which in turn make the roots of democracy stronger.A Voters’ Day pledge taking ceremony was also organised during the event.SHEEP HUSBANDRY DIRECTORATE: National Voters’ Day was celebrated in Sheep Husbandry Complex Jammu. Director, Sheep Husbandry Department,  Jammu Mr. Krishan Lal (JKAS) administered the National Voters’ Day  pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the  dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, for active participation in the  voting process.During the occasion, COVID guidelines/protocols were strictly adhered to.
