Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Arun Sood has once again stated that city residents will retain the BJP-led Municipal Corporation  in the upcoming local bodies elections scheduled for December 24. Sood along with former State President and co-incharge of BJP HP, Sanjay Tandon and former MP Satya Pal Jain were addressing a press conference while wrapping up their campaign report on Tuesday.BJP leaders reiterated in unison that Chandigarh belongs only to the residents of Chandigarh. Leaders affirmed that dignity of Chandigarh neither belongs to Punjab nor Haryana, rather  belongs to its natives who has nurtured by them over the decades.Arun Sood said that the people of Chandigarh only want development. Mayors of Congress party for 14 years and MP for 15 years continue to indulge in a series of scams and scandals. Congress MP has been designated  in important portfolios at the Centre but fails to bring development for the city.  Sood once again challenged opposition if they could count any five projects benefiting the locals.  

While detailing his campaign, Sood informed  a total of 12 star campaigners through their  56 public rallies canvassed for the party candidates.  Apart from that, the state President and other leaders addressed 72 meetings in every nook and corner of the city. Sood said that apart from Congress councillor Sheela Phool Singh, one Akali Dal candidate and many top leaders hailing from different parties joined the BJP during this campaign.Sood said their election campaign was conducted in a completely successful and disciplined manner without any violation. Their star campaigners includes BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan, Union Industries and Commerce Minister Som Prakash,  Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Delhi MP and Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari, Union Minister Piyush Goyal , Uttarakhand former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur, Ambala MP Ratanlal Kataria, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai.

Former BJP President Sanjay Tandon said that BJP is fighting this election with utmost seriousness with between 700-800 indoor meetings involving candidates, supporters and party high commands. He said, the party is contesting elections by the virtue of development in Chandigarh during their party led MC.  With having their PM at the apex, MP and upcoming Municipal Corporation here in the city, ‘triple engine’ governance will further boost the developmental projects in Chandigarh.Speaking on the occasion, Ravikant Sharma, Mayor, Municipal Corporation said that almost all the candidates of BJP have issued their respective manifestos of their wards. Claiming to have won all the 35 seats, Ravikant said that the BJP has financially strengthened the municipal corporation during his tenure.Former MP and Additional Solicitor General Satya Pal Jain during this election some people have falsely campaigned to hand over Chandigarh to Punjab. Jain clarified that these schemes have been made during the tenure of Congress. BJP has increased the pride of Chandigarh by giving it a different identity by implementing development schemes in Chandigarh.
